Exchange weeks in Austria
6th to 18th of October 2014

Sewage plant of Fehring

A visit to the sewage plant of Fehring made us aware of the importance of taking care of our environment. Now we know that by flushing the toilet we can´t get rid of everything. There is always someone on the other end who has to deal with the outcome.

Learning by doing

Practical exercises at school were a welcome change to the sightseeing programme. Our Bulgarian friends were instructed by Schloss Stein students. We showed them how to make jam, how to bake Austrian pastries and pancakes and how to fry pumpkin slices. They also created lavender bags as a present for their families.

A highlight of the first project week was the planting of the Bulgarian roses which were a present to Schloss Stein from the Alexander Puschkin Gymnasium. The roses will always remind us of our friendship and we will fondly foster  them in the future.

Vienna

A visit to Austria´s capital Vienna completed the first project week. The castle of Schönbrunn with the extravagant rooms of the emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Sisi was very impressive.

In the afternoon  a stroll around the Schönbrunn zoo left us tired and ready for the hostel bed. On the next day we started with a guided tour of the city centre and saw the main historic buildings like St. Stephan´s cathedral, etc. Afterwards we all were looking forward to doing some souvenir shopping. In the evening our parents/host parents welcomed us back at Schloss Stein and we spent the Sunday with them.
