Exchange weeks in Austria
6th to 18th of October 2014

Winery and vinotheque St. Anna/Aigen

On the terrace of the vinotheque St.Anna we enjoyed a marvellous view of the beautiful south-eastern Styrian landscape with its orchards, vineyards and hiking trails. Over a tiny glass of wine we learned more about wine production and tasting at the Ulrich winery.

Impressed by the rich autumn colours of the vines and the blue sky we walked a short distance on the wine hiking trail.

Graz and Piber

On Tuesday, the 14th of October another gorgeous day dawned for our visit to Styria´s capital Graz. Another guided tour led us through the city centre with its main attractions. We were impressed by the main square and the majestic "Schlossberg“, the landmark of Graz. Unexpectedly, the Schloss Stein group met their governor, Mr Franz Voves.

At the Fachschule Haidegg we were invited for a typical Austrian lunch, which we all enjoyed.

In the afternoon we visited the world famous Lipizzaner Studs in Piber, where Imperial baroque horses are bred for the Spanish horse riding school – an amazing experience for all of us.

Tabor museum

The ancient fortification Tabor hosts thousands of exhibits describing the hardship of peasants in former times.  The museum was founded in 1952. This year 2014 it is hosting a special exhibition about the First World War.

Thermal spa Loipersdorf

Wednesday afternoon was the day to let off steam. Varied attractions made time fly by very quickly. Fun and action bound us together and intensified our friendship. With new power and energy we returned to Schloss Stein.
